Character Concept Study - Beth

Character painting for a personal project.

I tried a new method I'd seen in a tutorial, which entailed painting the portrait in greyscale first and then adding color via the Color Replacement Brush. While I enjoyed the monochromatic study, I don't know that it added value to my painting process, as I still had to do a lot of overpainting to get the shadows and hues I wanted.

Process GIF. My initial digital sketches are always quick and dirty and really ugly, but I figured I'd include it.
